It's a New Year... can't wait to see what it brings for this guild!
I had a very quiet Christmas and New Years but Christmas Day was special for me. I invited some folks who needed to be with people for a wonderful dinner before I rushed off to hug my two grands in London. Such a busy family but I loved that Evie loved the quilt I made her...
New Years Eve will be quiet. I like it that way! And Bed time might be early but I started that puzzle I was gifted from my secret sister.... it is a little tough but I'm plugging through. LOL
December meeting
Did you miss it? We had a great meeting, enjoying each others company and chatting and making new friends. I was so pleased when I got to the church and the table and chairs were all set up for us. What a great. bunch of people at the church to do that for us. I am so very grateful.
Secret sister gifts were handed out and there were some very wonderful surprises.
But the best part was all the wonderful treats. I think everyone enjoyed that the best.
Sues Special Project
Here's a link to the second block in the Special project Sue announced at the meeting in November. Send a comment below if you have started your first block! I showed my blocks at the meeting. ( You should bring yours next month!
I’m starting something new… it’s a surprise! 👀
There will be slips of paper at the 50/50 table—be sure to write your name and drop it into the bag. Stay tuned… more to come!
This month, we are pleased to welcome Linda McGee, our regional Representative to Quilt Canada. Linda will be sharing information about the many benefits of Quilt Canada membership, as well as introducing an exciting Challenge that could be a great opportunity for our guild.
Sue will introduce Block 3 of her special project. If you have completed Blocks 1 and 2, please bring them along for show and tell. I am excited to see what everyone has created!
The instructions will be posted on the blog the day of the meeting. In addition, Amanda has included links to the blog pages at the bottom of the Resources page on the blog.
It is very important that every member has signed up for a chance to help at the guild meetings. —we really need your help! There is a lot more to do at the meetings now. We are responsible for the set up and take down of the tables and can use the help each meeting. See Anita to add your name to the list.
The Stitch & Chat and the Embroidery Chat are back!!!
Stitch & Chat
This year, Stitch & Chat will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the Saturday following the Guild meeting.
If you’re interested, we’ll kick things off with a show and tell from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Bring along what you’re working on or quilts you’re close to finishing. I can’t wait to see what everyone has been creating!
I’ll also be setting up breakout rooms, just in case you’d like to chat privately with someone. Let’s share new techniques we’ve discovered and inspire one another.
Feel free to bring friends who aren’t guild members. It will be fun to discover who else is out there quilting on their own!
Embroidery Chat
Join the Embroidery Chat! We have some truly amazing embroiderers in our guild, and we know there are also talented embroiderers out there who haven’t joined yet. This group has the potential to be a wonderful asset to the guild.
There will be a show and tell, and BJ has something special she can’t bring to the guild meeting but is happy to share during the Embroidery Chat.
It’s the same link listed below, and we’ll meet at 6:45 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month (January 28th this month!).
Don’t forget to welcome our guests and new members at the meetings. If you haven’t met them yet, go say hello—you might make a new friend! Let's challenge ourselves to move out of our comfort zone and chat with someone we don't know. I met some great people at the Christmas party that I had never met before!
