OH My Goodness.... Where did January go.
But am I glad that January is gone? Way too much snow for me. I don't mind the cold, but seriously! I think there were 4 or 5 days where it just didn't stop snowing... So I am real glad to see the sun!
January Meeting
My surprise:
I surprised one of our attending members with a free Membership for 2026/2027. It pays to come to meetings because you never know when I will do another surprise!
30th Anniversary Celebration!
At the meeting we discussed the 30th anniversary of the Guild and I asked if there was any interest in doing a celebration starting in September. I put out a sign up sheet for a committee to organize the celebration and will continue to do so every meeting.
Linda McGee, our regional Representative to Quilt Canada gave a great presentation. on the benefits of belonging to Quilt Canada! Is any one doing the challenge? If you are not and would like the info on the Challenge, message me at ribble399@gmail.com and I will send you the information.
We introduced Block 3 of Sue's special project. Amanda has included links to the blog pages for the special project at the bottom of the Resources page on the blog.
The instructions will be posted on the blog the day of the meeting. In addition, Amanda has included links to the blog pages at the bottom of the Resources page on the blog.
Workshop
We hope to have a wool appliqué workshop, on April 21, 2026 that will be held at the church during the day, prior to the General Meeting.
The cost of the workshop will be: $45.00 for the kit and $25.00 for the workshop, to be paid at time of Registration. (kit cost will be non-refundable, unless the workshop does not go). We will need a minimum of 12 people for the workshop to go.
The Kit, Falling Leaves… wool kit includes pattern by Upper Canada Quiltworks Publishing Co., wool and pre-cut wool applique shapes. Also includes backing. There will be a sheet available at the meetings in February and March to sign up for the Nellie Holmes and Christine Baker workshop
It is very important that every member has signed up for a chance to help at the guild meetings. —we really need your help! There is a lot more to do at the meetings now. We are responsible for the set up and take down of the tables and can use the help each meeting. See Anita to add your name to the list.
Fat Quarters.
Fat quarter colour for February is Red
Don’t forget to bring money for the 50/50 draw! Proceeds help support our workshops by bringing in special teachers and instructors just for you.
The Stitch & Chat and the Embroidery Chat!!!
This year, Stitch & Chat will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the Saturday following the Guild meeting.
We will have a show and tell from 12 - 1 pm. Bring along what you’re working on or quilts you’re close to finishing. I can’t wait to see what everyone has been creating!
Let’s share new techniques we’ve discovered and inspire one another.
Feel free to bring friends who aren’t guild members. It will be fun to discover who else is out there quilting on their own!
Embroidery Chat
It’s the same link listed below, and we’ll meet at 6:30 p.m. This month we decided to meet every two weeks, so the next two are February 11th and February 25th. Add us to your calendar.
Let's be a welcoming Guild!
Don’t forget to welcome our guests and new members at the meetings. If you haven’t met them yet, go say hello—you might make a new friend! Let's challenge ourselves to move out of our comfort zone and chat with someone we don't know. I met some great people at the Christmas party that I had never met before!
